We recommend using propper carpet underlay for your carpet and kilims, as it helps to prolong the life of your carpets. The rug underlay ensures that the rug stays in place on the floor, as well as it makes it look better. Additionally, the underlay reduces the wear and tear on the rug by half, as the backside does not rub directly against the floor. An extra bonus of a good, thick underlay is, that the rug feels even softer to walk on.
Unfortunately, there are too many poor-quality carpet underlays on the market, where many of them do more harm than good to the rug. It is therefore important to choose the right underlay. We have done a lot of research on the market to find the best rug underlay, which can be cut to the desired size. The underlay costs DKK 220, – including VAT per square meter.

Carpet underlay is a rubber mat placed underneath the carpet to prevent it from sliding around on the floor and becoming unnecessarily worn. There are many different types of underlay, and too many of them do not meet the standard that a rug underlay should have. It is therefore important to choose a high-quality underlay. The underlay we sell is allergy tested and made in Germany from latex rubber from the brand Ako Elastic, which is one of the best quality underlays on the market.
Most carpet underlays today are non-slip. It is sensible to choose a non-slip underlay so that your carpet stays in the place, where you have chosen to put it. Regardless of the size, type, and weight of your carpet, there is always a risk, that it may slip on a smooth wooden floor. Therefore, it is important to choose a good quality carpet underlay. You also protect both your carpet and floor at the same time.
It is important to have an underlay for your carpet so that it lies better and wears less, as much of the wear also comes from below. Additionally, the carpet looks better when it is placed on a proper underlay.
“How big should my carpet underlay be, and how do I measure it?” The underlay should, more or less, cover the entire carpet and smooth it out. Then you should make sure it does not extend more than about a centimeter under the edges of the carpet. Sometimes the carpet may be uneven, and then you must adjust the underlay in these areas and cut it to fit just under the edge.

The underlays are available in widths of 80 cm, 110 cm, 160 cm, 190 cm, 240 cm, and 290 cm. It is important to use an underlay that is slightly larger than the width of the carpet so that you can cut it to fit, leaving a 1 cm gap between the underlay and the edge of the carpet all the way around.
Some people ask if an underlay can be washed if it gets dirty. Generally, a carpet underlay does not need to be washed. It may get a little greasy, but it is not necessary to wash it.
